CARE

for global workers

In Romania, care for missionaries is just developing. Because this is a new field, we face many challenges in this kind of work.

It is our desire to see Romanian missionaries well cared for as they prepare to leave for the field and during their time on their fields. Besides caring for missionaries, we also desire to educate and encourage churches, pastors, mission organizations and families to intentionally invest in caring for their sent ones.

We see member care for missionaries as one of our main purposes and because of this you’ll see most of our major projects revolving around this theme: Family psychotherapy, Member Care, On field visits, Prayer ministry and more.

GROW PROJECTS

Cross-Cultural Training

In Romania and around, among the evangelical churches, there is a great need for missionary training is obvious. Thus, we initiated a partnership with All Nations College, UK in the hope that we can develop a missionary training course to offer our future cross-cultural Romanian missionaries a solid practical training.

Our plans are to adopt and adapt the “EnRoute” course partnering with All Nations College that teaches it. There has been several meeting on both sides, in England and Romania. As a result of these meetings we made huge progress with our planning and therefore established our first “EnRoute” course here in Bucharest. It was organized in March 2018 and had 16 participants.

  • our next course already started in October 2018 and will end in May 2019 (four weeks in total)
  • costs: €200/ participant. We have 17 participants this year. To make the most of the space and resources we have we pray for 16 participants for every of our cross-cultural courses.

Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.

 Training for Service

In order to develop our volunteers’ team skills and capacities to assist others, we need ongoing training. We want our volunteers to be well trained. Only together we can be effective in serving the Lord. To accomplish this, we need to organize or attend missionary training events every year. Therefore, we plan to attempt international conferences or organize training events here in Romania where to invite visiting teachers from well-known world-wide missionary organizations.

Our official partner in training for service is developed with “Barnabas International”, US. Already since 2016 we had organized training for our people on various subjects: “Debriefing” – October 2016; “Member care principles” – July 2017; “Theology of shepherding” and the “work of our hands” – November 2018. In the future we hope to open these training seminars to other member care groups in Romania and the region.

  • our group is 15-18 people
  • we plan to organize every year one or two events of three days each
  • costs: about €1300 each training session.

Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.

 Marriage Seminars

Marriage today is constantly under intense attacks. The world has become increasingly more hostile towards the traditional family, and because of that marriages become fragile and relationships fluctuate. Therefore, we have decided to help Romanian families and families serving in foreign countries to strengthen their marriages and grow in their commitment to each other and God. We do this through marriage seminars and counseling. We also provide prep-marriage courses so marriages can begin on the right foot.

If you would like to see the materials we use for our marriage seminars, please see the website below: http://www.themarriagecourses.org/try/the-marriage-course).

In addition to this, we have also developed sessions on issues like: good money stewardship in marriage, time management, serving God as a couple, balancing work and family.

Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.

 TCK & parenting workshops

Third culture kids are children who have spent a portion of their formative childhood years (0-18) in a culture different than their parents’.

TCKs tend to develop their identities while living abroad, thus blending their “home” culture with the culture of the world around them. Because of the unique challenges these kids face, they need help to understand themselves and their identity.

In our seminars, we teach parents, church workers and educators how to better understand the uniqueness of these children, and how to help them develop their identity and equip them for the challenges that lie before them.

Our desire is to become a resource for the parents of TCKs and children themselves, in order to help them experience growth and joy in their families.

Note: these courses are offered to Romanian churches in Romania and those in the Romanian community in Western Europe. In this last case, our travelling expenses are covered by our hosts.

 Member Care

Care for missionaries is just developing in our region. Because this is a new field here in Romania, we face many challenges in this kind of work. It is our desire to see Romanian missionaries well cared for as they prepare to leave for the field and during their time on their fields. Besides caring for missionaries, we also desire to educate and encourage churches, pastors, mission organizations and families to intentionally invest in caring for their sent ones.

We adopted the following quote from Kelly O’Donnell’s book, “Doing Member Care Well”, as our own description of our vision of what missionary care will look like in Romania one day. We see it as “the ongoing investment of resources by mission agencies, churches, and other mission organizations for the nurture and development of missionary personnel. It focuses on everyone in missions (missionaries, support staff, children, and families) and does so over the course of the missionary life cycle, from recruitment through retirement.” (2002, p. 4). We see member care for missionaries as one of our main purposes and because of this you’ll see most of our major projects revolving around this theme.

We do member care for missionaries on weekly bases. We are in constant contact with about 15 units but sporadically communicate with over 30. The vast majority of them come to us for support and care. We also are offering member-care to those church planters and church workers to those serving here in Romania (both national and expats).

The majority of our beneficiaries are missionaries and church workers. Most of them have a very low income rate. Therefore, we offer our support free of charge or they can make a donation should they choose so. However, we can continue our ministry only if other people are willing to make donations towards our organization.

Choose to be our partner and support our work monthly with as little as €20. Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.

 On-Fields Visits

There are about 30 Romanian missionary families/singles spread around the world that we are in contact with and serve. Our desire is to visit our missionaries on the field and help them with the needs they have such as: marriage seminars; parenting; debriefing; coaching; counseling and much more.

Over the years we visited missionaries in: Bulgaria, Serbia, Moldova Republic, Ukraine, Peru, Asia (various restrictive countries) and Cyprus.

In 2019 we hope to visit our missionaries in countries like: Ukrain, Moldova Republic, Bulgaria, Malawi (Africa) and perhaps Siberia (Russia). Each trip has a different cost but in general we need, as a family, about €500-€1000 for a trip.

Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.

 Prayer Ministry

In our Christian life we need prayer just as much as we need air or water for our physical life. However, there are times when we feel like our prayers cannot penetrate the ceiling. In times like these, coming together with others, talking through our concerns and desires, and then praying together for God to intervene and provide solutions is what we need. It’s our desire to provide this place of prayer. To be a support for others who need someone to listen and pray with them about the issues of life.

Choose to be our partner and support our work monthly with as little as €25. Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.

Christian Counseling

There are moments in life when things do not make sense. At times the burden becomes too heavy, and professional assistance is needed.

We are here to provide assistance in working through issues that have become too much for people to deal with on their own, whether that be individually, as a couple, or as a family. Our passion is to help people find healing and to move forward in their relationships with God and others.

The majority of our beneficiaries are missionaries and church workers. Most of them have a very low income rate. Therefore, we offer our support free of charge or they can make a donation should they choose so. However, we can continue our ministry only if other people are willing to make donations towards our organization. Choose to cover a counseling session for a missionary or a pastor with as little as €25.

Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.

 Family Psychotherapy

Our families are under pressure constantly. Husbands do not feel respected and wives do not know if they are loved. Children go through difficulties at school and in their relationships. Family psychotherapy is intended to help with many of these issues with the goal to experience enrichment in the families and their members. Our desire is to see Romanian families strengthened through the use of psychotherapy.

The majority of our beneficiaries are missionaries and church workers. Most of them have a very low income rate. Therefore, we offer our support free of charge or they can make a donation should they choose so. However, we can continue our ministry only if other people are willing to make donations towards our organization. Pastoral Care

God’s servants experience a great amount of stress, which if left unattended, could lead to burn-out. Because of this, pastoral care for pastors, church planters, evangelists and other church workers is greatly needed. Our desire is to provide much needed care and support that these Christian workers greatly need.

We plan to do that by providing secluded locations where pastors and other Christian workers can get away and disengage from their everyday ministries. It will be a place where they can receive care, counseling and learn various ways on how they can better care for themselves. This is similar with what we also do in our Winter Schools but at the individual level.

Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.
