Care for missionaries is just developing in our region. Because this is a new field here in Romania, we face many challenges in this kind of work. It is our desire to see Romanian missionaries well cared for as they prepare to leave for the field and during their time on their fields. Besides caring for missionaries, we also desire to educate and encourage churches, pastors, mission organizations and families to intentionally invest in caring for their sent ones.
We adopted the following quote from Kelly O’Donnell’s book, “Doing Member Care Well”, as our own description of our vision of what missionary care will look like in Romania one day. We see it as “the ongoing investment of resources by mission agencies, churches, and other mission organizations for the nurture and development of missionary personnel. It focuses on everyone in missions (missionaries, support staff, children, and families) and does so over the course of the missionary life cycle, from recruitment through retirement.” (2002, p. 4). We see member care for missionaries as one of our main purposes and because of this you’ll see most of our major projects revolving around this theme.
We do member care for missionaries on weekly bases. We are in constant contact with about 15 units but sporadically communicate with over 30. The vast majority of them come to us for support and care. We also are offering member-care to those church planters and church workers to those serving here in Romania (both national and expats).
The majority of our beneficiaries are missionaries and church workers. Most of them have a very low income rate. Therefore, we offer our support free of charge or they can make a donation should they choose so. However, we can continue our ministry only if other people are willing to make donations towards our organization.
Choose to be our partner and support our work monthly with as little as €20. Your prayers and generosity will make this event happen. Thank you.
